Power And Battery Light Flashes

Hello I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop and when I plug in the ac adapter and the battery and power lights just flash. I tried taking the battery and run it off the ac adapter but it does the same thing. I even bought a new adapter and still the same thing. If I hold the power button it sounds like it wants to come on but shuts back off and continues to flash. Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix this problem?

Hi. See the Service Manual here http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-5160/manuals for some troubleshooting help. Though I suspect a defect CPU or DIMM (RAM).
