Bose Aw-1 Determination Of Age From Serial Number

How do I determine the month and year any particular Bose AW-1 was made from its 8 digit serial number on the back of the unit? I know normally the first 3 digits are in bold type and the last 5 numbers are slightly larger and in lighter font. I have wanted to know this information for years now.
