Program Selector Knob Just Turning Without Gripping..can't Select Programs

Anyone having an issue with this. I have taken the control panel off and it would appear that the program selector knob's shaft is stripped and not gripping the the internal chassis that it fits into. The shaft is just made of plastic. Wondering if I can get a new program selector or somehow build up the program selector shaft with expoxy or something alike. Bosch doesn't have the part available and weren't helpful. They make you buy a complete panel part number 00670359 in any case. I have found one on the internet and it is over $300. I only need the control knob though.

The answer provided here seems to be related to a hotpoint machine, while the original poster was talking about a Bosch.

A faulty control switch or cycle selector knob on a Hotpoint washing machine can make it difficult to select a proper washing cycle to run a wash load. If the switch is loose or broken, you may not be able to use your washer at all. Depending on how badly damaged the switch is, you may be able to fix it yourself without having to contact a washer repair technician. However, you won't know for sure what type of repair is required until you investigate the issue further.
