Drill Bit Wobbles

My Hammer drill works but the bit wobbles, it is off center. how can i fix it?

There will be a very small amount of movement with the chuck both backwards & forwards as that is needed for the impact/hammer action and because of this there will also be movement in all directions. However there is a tolerance to what is acceptable. It does vary slighty from machine to machine.

The bit should lock in and chuck should NOT loosen if tightened correctly. I assume this is an autolock chuck on the drill. It is either not being tightened enough or faulty. Sounds like it is faulty.


Its hard to answer both these questions without seeing them. Andrew's drill is probably within tolerances and if you want a drill that has no movement you are likely to be wanting a precision drill such as a GBM. These do not have impact/hammer for the reasons above and are corded.

If the chuck is not holding I would recommend having it looked at. If under warranty still that should be fixed no problem.
