Asus Z87m Plus Will Not Boot Windows 7 Install Disc

I recently built a computer using an Asus Z87M Plus motherboard, Intel i5 4670k, 16 gb ram, 1TB hard drive, msi nvidia gtx 650 ti, 600 w modular power supply by ocz. After turning on the system, it goes straight to the BIOS screen and refuses to boot the windows 7 installation dvd. I've verified the optical drive was set as the first boot priority and it still will not work. I tried using an older hard drive which has windows xp on it (only option - disconnected optical drive etc.) to see whether I could load xp and then install windows 7 but it keeps telling me there was an error starting up and whether I want to start windows normally or in safe mode. Regardless of which option I choose, the system pretty much resets and goes back to the same question-an endless loop pretty much. I know that the windows cd I used works fine because I verified it on a laptop in a windows environment and the autoplay ran just fine. Could I get some help please?

What you may want to try is updating the bios to see if that will resolve your issue. Also, in the bios, go into the advance mode and under sata configurations, try changing it to AHCI or IDE to see if that works. If that doesn't work, you can go into the bios and advance mode and under the boot tab choose your optical drive as the override and should start loading the windows in your dvd drive.
