Yes, you can update a laptop processor on your own but it requires some technical abilities. You need to be well aware of your laptop like you need to know your laptop brand, motherboard model machine size, limitations of your laptop, how CPUs and motherboards function, you need to recognise your motherboard's CPU socket type, you need to look for CPUs that are compatible with your motherboard, and If required, find a replacement motherboard that matches your CPU.
If you have these technical abilities then only you can update a laptop processor on your own otherwise contact an IT professional as he has mastered the technical skills and update a laptop processor in a short span.
