Usb 3.0 Not Working With A 1.0 Or 2.0 Flash Drive. Also An Odd Read.

I have 4 USB 3.0's. I plug in a flash drive. Nothing happens on any of the USB's. So I go to a laptop that has the old 2.0 OR 1.0 USB (don't know which). It works fine. ALSO, I plugged in another flash and seen two folders. I clicked on one of them, they disappeared, not to be seen again.    With this Asus purchase I rec'd a USB driver's disk. Am I suppose to intall these? Thanks for any help.

Ooops, cljeffrey,  I thought your answer would resolve my issue. However, it did not. :(  I put that disk in and it wasn't very useful it was for installing apps. The one "driver" mentioned on the disk was linked to the multimedia so I tried to install that, however, it kept giving me a "failed". I have another question regarding this, on the "START" Menu there is a button/icon for "reinstalling USB driver" so I tried that. It kept telling me I didn't have sufficient priviages.  I am the administrator and no other person is registered on this notebook.  So now there are two question into one.

1) Why can't I install drivers for the USB and

2) Why does it claim I am not the admistrator, I checked and I am listed as adinistrator.

Thanks for HELP ...

Yes please install the USB driver disc so there will be no compatibility issues. Please also update the intel rapid storage technology driver under others.
