Macbook Pro - Antivirus?

Hello, I want to know if my MacBook Pro will need an antivirus of any sort? I have had my laptop for over 2 years now and have not experienced any virus problems as of yet. However, I am worried, do I need to protect my laptop from catching a virus or I should just not worry? Thank you for your help.
