The Auxilary Mode Isnot Converting To My Portable Device Samsung Cell Phone

I tried doing everything the manual says.  When I turn the volume control on my phone it feedbacks through the speakers barely in Aux0on mode.  Does the switch behind my Alpine CDA-7875 need to be in normal or EQ/DIV mode on back of reciever?
