Error code 79

Most everything I've read conserning this code says to replace the Formatter circuit board. One person said that by pressing the left arrow and the right arrow keys when turning the printer on will do a re-initialization of the Formatter and clear the code. It did for me the first time, but when it returned the next day, it didn't do a thing to help. I still had the code 79 show in the display. Looks like a replacement board is needed. Why do so many of the 2605s have this problem? If I hadn't just replaced all the color ink cartridges, I would junk the machine.

HP 2605

Good print quality. But does have technical problems. HP service for repair is costly and more expensive than buying a new printer.
