It is recommended to provide write-protection for a floppy disk to write data. 6 BES-116AC To do so, slide the write-protect notch to prevent data loss or overwriting. A write-protected disk is read-only. Slide the notch in this direction to prevent undesired data deletion. Slide the notch in this direction to open the slot as shown below. Protecting data in floppy disks Write-protection is available for disks which contain important data.
