Chapter 1 1.1.3 Central Processing Unit (CPU) The motherboard comes with a SocketTR4 socket designed for the SocketTR4 socket. The CPU fits in only one correct orientation. DO NOT force the CPU into the socket to prevent bending the connectors on the socket and damaging the CPU! Ensure that you use a CPU designed for the AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ processors. Ensure that all power cables are unplugged before installing the CPU. 1-4 Chapter 1: Product Introduction PRIME X399-A CPU SocketTR4 The SocketTR4 socket has a different pinout design.
