It was great value five years ago...
Back in 2006, 320GB drives came standard on high-dollar units; the 250GB drive that came standard with the Acer Aspire E360 was not only satisfactory--it was accompanied by two optical drives (DVD-ROM and DVD+-R); a multi-card reader; two USB ports; a Firewire port; and 1/8" stereo audio-in and -out jacks ALL ON THE FRONT under a sliding cover; the rear panel was populated by two S/PDIF ports, a LAN port, two more USB ports, another Firewire port, and the usual assortment of S-video, keyboard-, mouse-, serial-, parallel-, and printer- ports. What was this thing missing? Well, they left out the tinny speakers that usually came with desktop machines back then.It was way more machine for way less than Dell or HP could offer at the time. Sure it was cheaply made--the ergonomics weren't Mac-quality, and the various panels sometimes would get caught in each others' way--but it's still running, and I've never had a hardware issue. Acer is no better or worse than HP or Dell with driver updates; I remember other deals that included a Windows upgrade...but it's been five years--if you're an enthusiast, you've already got new hardware, or you've gone Linux.
