My Emachine (et1831-03) Does Not Have Any Sound. It Never Has. How Do I Fix It

Guess I said it all....there has never been any audio on my eMachine. I'd like it to work.

Hi, there could be any number of things causing the audio problem. Have you tried using alternate speakers/headphones? If not that would be the first step, to see if your speakers or headphones are the culprit. Once you've ruled them out, try a different port, such as the speaker port instead of the headphones port or vice versa, to see if you have a bad port. If it's not the port and it's not the audio device, then you may have a bad sound card or motherboard. You could try installing a new sound card, which would be much cheaper than replacing the motherboard if that's the problem.

Also, make sure you've tried the obvious stuff: turning the volume up and checking to be sure the sound isn't muted.
