Tv Picture Does Not Stay On.

   Never move a tv set while its powered on... The tv will shut-off the backlight if the proper voltage isn't in specification.  The shut-off is normally this is caused by a short in the lamp inverter; specifically one of three transformers.  They are located on the power supply board.  Set the Westinghouse TV face down on a table with a towel.  Make sure the surface is clear.  No lumps!   The board is on the left side.   Use a phillips screw driver to open the case.  Store screws in a zip lock bag NOTICE which one come out of which hole.  Lift the top of the case out first.   Unplug the internal AC connector, the six lamp connectors, the data idc connector.  Remove the six machine screws for the power board. Finding out which transformer is bad can be easy if you see a burn mark around the edges. Otherwise they read about 1.8K ohms with an ohm meter at the white output cntr.  I've never been shocked, but be careful. (A bad xfmer will not read 1.7or1.8K!) You could replace whole board but they are sold out everywhere;except for price gouging repair guys :(  Otherwise you need a soldering iron and solder wick at say radio shack,safety glasses too! The transformers are numbered 4301h or 4302h, do not mix x'frmr types!  Look at the type you have and order one via ebay DARFON 4301H.  They're about 25 dollars. While desoldering put a small flat blade screw driver under the bad unit will make it gently ease away from the board...  Solder in the new transformer, use flux, glasses. Reassemble case and stand.  Good luck!

Had the same problem.  My solution is only for the guys that are not techies with ohm meters or guys who will rather do more damge to the board when trying to solder new part onto the board.  I bought a Westinghouse 56.04073.011 Power Supply / Backlight Inverter for my Westinghouse SK-32H540S on the net from Shopjimmy for $82-00 (http://www.shopjimmy.com/westinghouse-56-04073-011-power-supply-backlight-inverter.htm). Pulled the black cover off the TV. Then I loosened the 6 little screws that hold the board, plus I unplugged the little plugs, screwed the new board in place, reinserted the plugs, closed the back panel, reconnected the TV and WALLAH.... it works perfectly. It took me all of 10 minutes.  There are, however, 2 different boards available for this TV, so you should check the part no. for the board on your tv.
