My Kdl-40ex400 Red Standby Light Blinks Two Times I Have Swaped Power And Invert
Still have the same problem suould I swap the other two or give up tv is only three years old worked perfect till this happened and had shown no symptoms and worked fine the night before just would not turn on the next day.

Hopefully you haven't given up and ditched the KDL40EX400. Had almost the same issue with the my KDL40EX400 getting locked into a steady green LED with no pic or sound status with no way to power off. Later went to the red blinking LED sequence. This is generally a firmware issue vs hardware.
I ended up having had 'hard boot' the new firmware since I could not get it powered up to even get to the update menu.
Basically, even with the red LED flashing, I plugged in the USB flash drive containing the firmware to the USB port and held the power button on the TV until the amber LED that signifies USB activity starting blinking. Let it install (even if the screen is blank, it'll bring up the set up menu in 7-10 minutes when the firmware install is complete).
