3d Not Recognized

I tried a 3D movie and the player did not ask me if I wanted to watch in 3D. Checked all settings and updated firmware and no use. I am using a Vizio 3D 55 inch TV that I just purchased with shutter glasses. All settings are correct. I tried for hours and on different dvd's, but nothing worked and the Sony player says nothing about 3D mode on insertion. Even tried two different BX58 players. Please advise.
