Hello, if black looks faint but everything else appears fine, it is most likely the black developer going bad. The developer in this machine is rated to go the life of the machine, but of course that varies depending on many factors: usage, coverage, volume, temperature, humidity, etc.
The black developer on this model comes together with the black developer unit, and is fairly easy to replace. PrecisionRoller.com sells a new black developer unit for $154.95.
