how do I get my tv out of DVD mode with out the remote model L40HD33DYX1

The manual only references a side power button on your TV. Unless it also has a menu button you will not be able to change the input source without the remote. You can try physically disconnecting the dvd player while set is off then power up to see if it will default to the tv.

If your TV or other device is compatible, you just press the button for that device on the remote. These buttons are arrayed over the numbered buttons on the bottom.
