There are two main methods for programming a new key fob for your 2005 Pontiac Montana SV6:

1. Using the "BCM PRGRM" fuse method:

This is a DIY method that you can perform yourself with minimal tools. Here's what you'll need:

Your new key fob

A spare fuse (optional)

Owner's manual for your Montana (recommended)

Here are the steps:

Remove the key from the ignition.

Remove the "BCM PRGRM" fuse from the fuse panel. Refer to your owner's manual for the exact location of this fuse. If you don't have a spare, you can temporarily remove another non-essential fuse with the same rating.

Close all doors and the liftgate.

Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ACC position. This position is usually two clicks before starting the engine.

Open and close any vehicle door.

Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on your new key fob simultaneously for 14 seconds. Release both buttons after 14 seconds.

Remove the key from the ignition and reinstall the "BCM PRGRM" fuse.
