Can A Thunder Break A Device?

I was watching a movie on my Panasonic SCBTT273 Home Theater. Suddenly a big thunder (I think) turned it off and it doesn't turn on again. The TV is OK, so I cannot say is because of the electric outlet, I plugged it in somewhere else and nothing... Does anyone knows is a thunder vibration could have damageg this device? Thank you
