Why Is Volume Not Working

I CANNOT HEAR THE VOLUME ON VIDEO CLIPS. EVEN ONES THAT HAVE WORKED BEFORE. I HAVE ADJUSTED THE VOLUME SETTINGS AND MADE SURE SILENT MODE IS OFF. ONLY ONE CLIP ON MY CARD HAS VOLUME NOW.
