Olympus E-500 Camera Is Not Taking Pictures.
I have owed this camera for over 5 years now and it has been a reliable camera that takes great pictures. Just recently the camera sounds and acts like it is taking a picture, focusing, shutter going off etc but the image on the screen is either all black or has a light streak at the top of the black image. I have checked to see if this happens with both lenses and it does. Do you have any idea what could be causing the camera to malfunction?

Right off the bat to me it sounds like a problem with the aperture settings or the shutter, not on your part, but in the mechanics of the camera. If you have used it heavily it might require repairs at this point. It would definitely be worth getting it checked out at a repair shop, the camera is still worth it.

I own the same camera and as you stated it has always performed well.
This sounds like the image sensor has failed.
To be sure first make sure that the battery has a full 13 hour charge on it. Also make sure the memory card is good (they do wear out). Try using the camera without the memory card or swap in another.
If the images are still bad then the camera has an internal failure and should be sent in for service. You should be able to get it sent at at most any camera store such as Wolf Camera.
