I Have A Netgear N600 Wr, It's Slowing Down Internet, Any Help?

We are rural and on a satellite phone system. When I connect straight to the satellite i can download but with the router on, download speeds slow to a crawl. I read that wireless phones can interrupt a router and i need an 800 megahertz phone and not the 8.4 i am currently using. Any help? Even the phone company is at a loss.
