Based on my experience you do not need a driver software to make the DVD drive work properly. I believe that there is a hardware related problem of your DVD Drive which requires a replacement. If your computer cannot detect this drive, it failed to function properly. You can buy a replacement DVD drive for this device online. These are the product links:
