'door Has Not Been Opened For 5 Minutes. Open&close Door To Ressume.'

this is what it says on the panel display. We do this but it still won't start up afterwards. This notice keeps popping up. The interior light doesn't come on either when door is opened. Everything else works. Help?

Partial answer: Something to do with the door switch/latch.  If I press down the top part of the door handle and nudge/pull open the bottom part, the microwave works!  But the problem comes back.
