How To Slide Refrigerator Light Bulb Shield

For KitchenAid refrigerator of Model KBFS25EWMS3, the manual says "Slide the light-bulb shield toward the back of the compartment to release it from the light assembly". I applied substantial force to slide it backward. It doesn't move and I'm afraid I may break the transparent plastic shield with long slots if I apply more force.Am I doing something wrong?
