How Long Should Rinse Cycle Last In Kenmore Washer ?

My washer took a really long time to wash clothes. When I opened the lid to check, it was just pouring water down on the clothes. I think it got stuck in this part of the cycle. How long should it last? Should the water refill or just run through?
