It's a software issue. Not to say that a bad sector may be the cause however. Go to Windows Explorer, right click the hard drive and select Properties. Under the Tools tab, click the Check Now button. Make sure both boxes are checked and select OK. It should ask you to reboot and then take a VERY long time for it to do its thing. If this does not fix the problem, then you may have to do a non-destructive repair. Look for the Microsoft Knowledge Base for your flavor of Windows. The method that you use will depend on what you have available. Let the Knowledge Base guide you.
