It sounds like there might be an issue with the dryer's sensor or heating element. You could try checking the lint filter and ensuring it's clean, as clogged filters can sometimes cause automatic shutdown. If that doesn't resolve the issue, it might be best to consult the dryer's manual or contact the manufacturer's customer support for troubleshooting assistance. If you bought the dryer second-hand, it's possible that there could be an underlying problem that the previous owner didn't disclose.

The thermal fuse has tripped. The thermal fuse is a safety device that prevents the dryer from overheating. If the fuse trips, the dryer will shut off automatically. To reset the thermal fuse, you will need to unplug the dryer and wait for it to cool down. Once the dryer is cool, you can plug it back in and try starting it again.

The lint trap is clogged. A clogged lint trap can restrict airflow and prevent the dryer from heating up properly. To check the lint trap, remove it from the dryer and clean it out. You can use a vacuum cleaner or a lint brush to remove the lint.

The door switch is not working properly. The door switch prevents the dryer from starting if the door is not closed properly. To check the door switch, you will need to use a multimeter to test its continuity. If the door switch is not working properly, it will need to be replaced.

The heating element is defective. The heating element is responsible for heating the air in the dryer. If the heating element is defective, the dryer will not be able to heat up properly and will shut off after a few seconds. To check the heating element, you will need to use a multimeter to test its resistance. If the heating element is defective, it will need to be replaced.

If you have checked all of these causes and the dryer is still stopping after 5 seconds, then you may need to call a qualified technician to diagnose the problem.

Here are some additional tips to help prevent your dryer from stopping after 5 seconds:

Clean the lint trap after every use.

Inspect the door switch regularly and replace it if it is not working properly.

Have the dryer serviced by a qualified technician every year.

I hope this helps!
