Dryer Stops After About 5 Or 10 Minutes

Dryer is heating, and will run about 5 or 10 minutes. Unit can set about 5 minutes and can be restarted. Have checked dryer vent/OK, and cleaned dryer sensors. Sounds like drum is binding when it shuts off.

The symptoms you described for your Electrolux EFME617STT dryer are suggestive of a few potential issues:

1. Belt Slippage: A worn or loose belt connecting the motor to the drum can cause the drum to spin inconsistently and eventually stop, leading to the short run times and shut-offs. The humming noise you might hear could also be the belt slipping against the pulleys.

2. Faulty Drive Motor: If the motor itself is malfunctioning, it might not be able to provide enough power to spin the drum consistently, resulting in the short run times and shut-offs.

3. Drum Roller or Bearing Issues: Worn-out drum rollers or faulty bearings can create friction and resistance, making it harder for the drum to spin and potentially triggering the shut-offs. This could also explain the binding sound you mentioned.

4. Defective Dryer Control Board: In rare cases, a malfunctioning control board could send incorrect signals to the motor, causing the erratic behavior and shut-offs.

Troubleshooting Tips:

Double-check the dryer vent: Ensure it's clear and free of any blockages that could restrict airflow and cause overheating, leading to shut-offs.

Listen for unusual noises: Pay attention to any grinding, scraping, or squealing sounds during operation, as they could indicate worn-out components like belts or rollers.

Manually turn the drum: When the dryer is off, try turning the drum by hand. If it feels stiff or difficult to move, it could be a sign of roller or bearing issues.

Consult the user manual: Your dryer's manual might have specific troubleshooting steps or error codes related to the symptoms you're experiencing.

Seek professional help: If you're not comfortable troubleshooting the dryer yourself, or if the above steps don't resolve the issue, it's best to consult a qualified appliance repair technician. They can diagnose the problem accurately and recommend the appropriate repair.

Remember that attempting to fix the dryer yourself could void the warranty or lead to further damage if not done correctly.

I hope this information helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
