Hello rake,

I am from Dell Social Media and Community.

If you would like to use the XPS one as an external monitor, you will need to install the monitor drivers on your XP system. Only then you will be able to access it.

Log on to www.support.dell.com and enter your service tag under Drivers and Download to download the latest drivers.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.
