Powering On
when I turn on the computer, it powers on for a second or two then powers off. What is causing this

Hi. Try a bone boot. Disconnect the hard drive, disk drive, PCI cards, GPU card (and use the on-board VGA instead), one RAM stick at a time if you have two and similar parts not necessary for boot. If go past the logo and into the post screen, then begin to connect the removed one by one - booting each time until you isolate the one causing the issue. You may need to try a different PSU before concluding the system/motherboard defect in case you still get shutdown issue with a bone boot.
