Dell Inspiron 2320 Starts Up With A Black Screen No Beeps

Tried unplugging it, holding the power button. Tried pressing F12 once a second. The dvd will load a dvd; the power lights work; the screen just stays black. Only a few months old.

The black screen on boot can be caused by a hang up of a screen update. I just bought a 2320 last week and it showed this symptom today. It briefly showed it was doing an update, then went black.I hit ctrl/alt/del to open the Task manager and looked at what was running, noted that DSUpd.exe Datasafe Update was running.

I terminated it and the system came good. I am not sure why it had hung, nor am I sure what the update was. I am most disappointed that there are no Windows 7(64x) support disks, you have to boot 'em off a hidden partition. But, apart from that, nice gear.

Hello home84051,

I am from Dell Social Media and Community.

Make sure all your hardware components are connected correctly. (memory, video card, etc.)

I would suggest you to disconnect them and reconnect it once.

If the issue persists, follow the link below and verify the basics and run a LCD test.

Let me know if you need any further support. I will be glad to help you.
As your system is only few months old, you may also contact me on twitter @NiranjanAtDell or @Dellcares
