No Tone Detected

I've tried to send several faxes, to different numbers, and have gotten the NG #017 No Tone Detected on the error report. The machine appears to be making multiple attempts to reach the receiving fax. Our fax line does have a dial tone.Is this indicating a problem with the receiving fax or our, sending fax machine?Thank you,Brenda

It's the tone in the receiving fax. You most likely have the option of electing OFF for Dial tone detect (probably in Adv. FAX settings under Fax settings). Otherwise, the machine transmits the fax after confirming the dial tone.
