'line Busy' Error Code #018

When trying to fax I keep getting the #018 Line Busy error but have confirmed with the receiving party that their fax is not busy and is functioning properly. Any suggestions on what may be wrong on our end? Thanks.

According to the error report you provided, it states the line is busy. This could be that their line is always busy when calling them, or it could be that your line is the problem. Do you have phone messaging and a message is waiting to be heard on your line? When you pick up your phone line, do you get a steady dial tone, or is it going on & off? This can cause a fax failure if it's going on and off. Check your fax/modem cable at both ends to make sure it is plugged in properly and you are plugged into the Line port on your fax and not the Phone port (where you would attach a telephone to use to dial a number or use when the fax isn't in use). If it's in the wrong port, it will not work. Try a regular phone in the wall port that you're using for your fax and make sure it is working and sounds ok.
