I Cannot Use My New Hat Hoop. I Get The Error Message 'this Hoop Is Not Usable'.

I am trying to use my hat hoop for the first time, though I bought it with the machine more than a year ago. I installed the driver and hooped a hat. This was difficult, but I am pretty sure I did it right. Every time I try to embroider the hat I get the message "This hoop is not usable". I have taken the whole thing apart, put it back together, tightened and checked everything and still get the same message. I would like to avoid hauling the 250 pound machine to the shop if possible!
