Why Does My Aspire One 725-0687 Not Load Windows 8?

Aspire One will not get past the Acer splash screen, instead it will display the splash screen, and will say""preparing automatic repair". After a few minutes it then will display the splash screen again and say "diagnosing your pc" and after some time it will displayh the blue Automatic Repair screen and says "Automatic Repair couldnt repair your pc Press Advanced options to try other options to repair your PC or Shut Down to turn off your PC. I have done the advanced settings, resetting PC, chkdsk via command prompt and almost anything I can think of. I am not sure if anyone else has had this occur. I do not have a recovery disk. I am actually attempting to repair this for somebody.

Sounds like the boot block is corrupted. I've seen this many times.  Windows 8 has some whiz-bang fancy boot protections that can cause issues if things are not exactly right.  Also crashes and physical drops can cause this.

Did win 8 come on the system when you bought it? If so the boot loader has become damaged. If the automatic repair will not correct it you will need to have a tech look at it. Repairing the boot loader is complicated and not for the faint hearted.

This could also be caused by a virus. You might consider having a friend burn a rescue CD for you and boot to that so it can scan your system. Many are available. Here is a list of bootable Av CDs. http://www.livecdlist.com/purpose/windows-antivirus

Good luck.
