Worst purchase ever!!!
After using our Toshiba BDX2300KU for less than 3 months, it would not play blu-ray discs, it said an update was required to play this disc. We ran the "auto" update (screen popup on the system), and still got the message that an update was required. After "troubleshooting", and going to the Toshiba website and downloading the version 1.18 firmware upgrade onto the thumb drive, installing it and still no results....contacted customer service, and after about 40 minutes on the phone with an agent who kept putting me on hold to "try to find a solution"?????!!! Simply walked us through the same process of the thumb drive firmware upgrade....a total waste of time, and we still can not play blu-ray discs...but the kicker was that the customer service agent offered as a solution to send our machine (at our cost, and with only 3 days left on our warranty) to them, and they would in return issue a voucher for the purchase price (to be used only on their website), for the purchase of another machine since the BDX2300KU is not replaced, or refunded per their "policy". Bottom line, I am stuck with a player that will not work on blu-ray discs, and I have no faith in Toshiba products and will never do business with this company again. Suggestion, Toshiba should use the technology they are so reliant on to update their machines automatically through the internet connection on the machine, do not rely on your consumers to "jump through all your hoops".

Not Ready for Prime Time
Let's talk about the good features first. It's relatively small/thin, plays Blu-Ray discs, and has Netflix/Hulu and some other online site access.Let me preface the bad by saying that I would never buy this unit had I known how it operated (WHEN it operated). The remote is not user friendly, the processor inside the unit is SLOW as heck, and it's even running some variant of Linux, and access to Netflix is SLOW (did I already say that?) and terribly confusing. Controls are not in the least intuitive.
But the coup de gras is when, after 5 months of using it perhaps 5 times, it just froze. The only way to get it to do something was to unplug the power cord. I just installed a firmware update and at least I can now power it off (which takes several seconds), but the lousy user interface is still there.
This thing was not engineered very well, and neither was the support website. Putting in the serial number and model number produces "no such product with that combination". And when you call their toll-free number and select to talk to someone about consumer electronics, it just disconnects. I guess they are at least consistent - even if that's consistently awful.
