Forestville 'updating' Issue

As of about a week ago, I've started getting some kind of error. As I'm farming my resources, then supplying my businesses, the screen will suddenly go dark and "Updating" will appear. When it's finished, my resources bar will be suddenly at or near zero and some of the businesses I just supplied will be needed resources again. It's getting increasingly irritating when I've spent all this time farming, etc, only to have everything disappear into the ether. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.
