How To Make The Freezer Freeze Ice Cream

Got this unit about 2.5 months ago and all has been well until we purchased some ice cream one week ago. It has been in the freezer for one week and is not frozen, but mushy and runny, although very cold.  The temp settings are at the max cold and have been for 2.5 months, but not freezing ice cream, yet freezing sodas in the lower portion of the fridge.  Any help and suggestions are appreciated, as I am getting no where with Whirlpool.
