Microwave Runs Will Door Is Open!

My microwave has been continuing to run even when the door is open. The lights flickers when door is open or closed. Occasionally when you enter a cook time it will ask you to open/close door several times. Any advise or help would be great!April

Although it may be unsafe to run the microwave with the door open, it's better to fix the problem than to discard your oven. The fix is to adjust the door's spring tension [see this Whirlpool page].

You need to call Whirlpool Customer eXperience Center toll free: 1-800-253-1301.

The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel. Do not operate the microwave oven until a designated service technician has checked it and made any needed repairs.

Whirlpool consultants provide assistance with features and specifications on their full line of appliances. Like installation information, use and maintenance procedures.

NOTE: To locate the Whirlpool designated service company in your area, you can also look in your telephone directory Yellow Pages.
