Dryer Cuts Off

The dryer gets really hot to the touch and the vent line is clear, why is the dryer cutting off

To verify if it's the dryer vent, try drying a medium load of towels on high heat with the flexible exhaust duct behind the dryer disconnected and the unit venting directly into the room. If the load dries significantly more with the exhaust vent duct system disconnected, then the restricted exhaust air flow is causing your issue. While the vent is disconnected during the above test, also check the temperature of the exhaust air coming out of the dryer with a thermometer. On most Kenmore and Whirlpool dryers, it should be cycling around 150 degrees F. If it is not cycling properly, you could have a thermostat problem. I hope this information helps.
