Power Cord / Supply Problems For My Whirlpool Oven Rf111pxsq3

I bought a new whirlpool oven from Lowes a few days ago. Got it home, bought a power supply cord from local hardware store and installed it according to instructions (I think). i get lights working but nothing on the stovetop or oven. When I switch the wires in the back and switch the black and white wires I get the stove top working but no lights working or the oven. Please help. Is it my power supply cord or the oven?
