Microwave Quits Heating After 2 Minutes

When we use the microwave, for popcorn for example, we set the timer for 3 minutes or however long is needed. After about 2 minutes it stops working and can't be used for about 10 minutes. Any ideas.Whirlpool MH1170XSQ

From the description you give most likely the problem is with the control board.

There is a fuse that would cause this problem but it would reset in 15 minutes and start to work. Once the fuse trips it will not work again.

There may be a wire connection that is heating up and separating causing this problem.

Microwaves are not good do-it-yourself projects and a technician will be needed to check and correct this problem.

Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged.

I recommend calling a service technician to repair this type of problem.

Thanks
