Vizio Smart Tv And Netflix- How To Use Remote

I have a brand new vizio smart tv. The remote does not have the keyboard on the back. The keypad that comes up on the screen works for the tv itself, but it will not work on netflix; the letters will not highlight so it's a guessing game as to what letters are getting punched in. To make matters worse, I cannot figure out how to backspace or capitilize a letter. Help!
