Uniden D1680 With Flashing Red Light

We have a Uniden D1680 which lately has a flashing red light on the handset, top left corner. How do we get rid of this light. Have tried global reset but did not work. Can you tell us what to do. Monique

flashing light means you have a voicemail message.
