Can't Hear Other People.

Okay so obviously my turtle beaches x32 have worked fine up until now. I can hear game audio completely and clearly. I cannot hear my friends at all. Not in normal lobbies nor in xbox live party. Now they can hear me fine, all my call outs they respond too. I even had a buddy call me and tell me if he could hear me via the headset, and he said yes. I just cannot hear them. Now when i pull the connecting wire to the controller out i can hear them, but when i plug it back in I cannot. I've tried repairing the reciever to the headset with no luck. I've tried turning the wires and that actually worked until i took them off to go to the restroom. I'm thinking the wire that connects between the controller and headset might be going bad? But i keep it in a dry alivated place. So no mice or water or anything have touched the wires. Any advice would be greatly thanked.
