Very Hard To Start And Won't Stay Running

my friend gave me a tb4hb because it was so hard to start. After 15 min of pulling the rope, it finally started to run and then it ran only for 5 min and then would not start up again. After an hour it started again and then ran for 5 min. Are there any carb adjustments. Check the fuel filter, OK...Getting spark OK..where do go from here, or do I return it to him and say NO THANKS
