Howto Reboot Toshiba Satellite Pro E40-b Series

It sounds like your hard drive has failed, and the computer can not find an operating system to load. If your computer came with a recovery disk, insert that disk and try to boot up the computer -- you may be able to recover your laptop.

If you don't have a recovery disk, turn the computer off and then back on. As soon as it turns back on, keep pressing F8 until the advanced boot menu comes up. When it does, select "Repair my computer." You can find more information here.

Your hard drive has sadly failed (or gotten dislodged) in that case. You will have to open the its bay underneath to see if it is still seated well. You will have to replace it if you find it still seated well. Also check your warranty to see if you cannot get a free fix.
